Clinton had no answer for Beloit Snappers hurler Sam Roy, who overwhelmed LumberKings hitters as the Snappers coasted to victory, 9-1. The winning pitcher was Roy, now 3-8. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. The last-place Snappers are now 44-79, the LumberKings 45-78.

The Snappers got a big hit from catcher Luke Swindle. Facing Clinton pitcher Edgar Beltran in the top of the sixth, Swindle pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season put the Snappers ahead, 9-1.

"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Matt Vining.
