Bees Dump Cedar Rapids, 5-3, to Win 4th in a Row
|
The Burlington Bees picked up a win at Veterans Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 5-3. On the mound for Burlington was right-hander Angelo Campos, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6 innings, Campos surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. The 5th-place Bees lifted their record to 59-64.
Burlington used the timely hitting of John Phillips to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bees ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I like the roll we're on," said Burlington manager Ethan Isler.
