Great Lakes got a decent performance from pitcher Mike DiPalermo, but it wasn't enough to beat the West Michigan Whitecaps. West Michigan won the Fifth Third Ballpark contest, 5-4. DiPalermo threw 7.0 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. John Collura, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. By defeating Great Lakes, the 4th-place Whitecaps improved to 64-61.

Alex McKinnon had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the third for West Michigan. With the bases loaded and the Whitecaps leading 2-1, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
