The Quad Cities River Bandits got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jake Gehrmann, who muffled the Cedar Rapids offense en route to a tight, 1-0 River Bandits win at Modern Woodmen Park. The winning pitcher was Gehrmann, now 6-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. With the victory, the River Bandits upped their record to 65-60.
With scoring opportunities rare, the River Bandits had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Ernie Evans hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Robbie Christie and made the score 1-0, River Bandits. Evans was 1 for 3.
"Jake can pitch. He moves the ball around," said Quad Cities manager Tom Sleeper.
