Great Lakes Slaps 7-3 Loss on West Michigan
The Great Lakes Loons defeated the West Michigan Whitecaps, 7-3, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Ballpark. Great Lakes pitcher Chris Gomez had a standout performance. Gomez got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Eric Schmidt closed out the game, earning his 42nd save.

Grant Snakenberg hit a run-scoring triple off Ryan Harrison in the top of the fourth, which put the Loons in front, 3-2. Snakenberg had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.

"Chris -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Loons manager Ivan Cruz. "He was the key to us winning."

The triumph puts Great Lakes at 77-49 for the season.
