South Bend Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The South Bend Cubs and West Michigan Whitecaps played an exciting game.
The South Bend Cubs beat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 3-2. South Bend pitcher and New York, native Bill Burroughs led the way. Today's win puts South Bend at 32-96, while West Michigan falls to 19-108.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Whitecaps allowed the Cubs to score the winning run.
"I can only hope we've hit rock bottom," lamented losing manager Phil Downer in postgame remarks.
