Clinton left fielder Carlos Rivera had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Rivera was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2, even as Beloit beat the LumberKings, 6-5. Beloit reliever Troy Whitson got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Conor Rintala was tagged with the loss. Beloit is now 64-65, Clinton 45-84.

Beloit used the timely hitting of Curt Lowery to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Snappers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Lowery. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
