The Burlington Bees defeated the Peoria Chiefs, 3-2, in Midwest League action at Dozer Park. Burlington pitcher Richard Clare had a standout performance. Clare, the winner, moves to 6-12. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. The Bees go to 61-68, putting them 5th in the Western Division.
Burlington used a well-timed hit by Arturo Ramirez to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bees ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Clare attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
