Chiefs Win Nail-Biter
|
The Peoria Chiefs knocked off the Kane County Cougars, 4-3, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Peoria pitcher and Ephraim, Utah, native Jim Reich had an outstanding performance. Bill Cruz earned the save for Peoria, his 13th of the year. The win elevated the Chiefs to 85-44.
Peoria used the hitting of Tim Warren to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-3. For the game, Warren had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Tommy Davenport, the Peoria manager.
