Hot Rods Fall to South Bend, 6-0
|
The South Bend Cubs beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 6-0, with major props going to catcher Santiago Garza. On the day, Garza was 4 for 4 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Cubs. Edwin Galdamez was the winner. He's now 11-7. The loser was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Jason Wengerd. The Hot Rods, at 41-91, have lost 10 straight games.
It could have been a different outcome for South Bend, had it not been for Miles Thrash, the 22-year old right fielder . Thrash contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put South Bend up, 2-0.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said South Bend manager Roy Ofstad.
