Whitecaps Earn Late Win
Though he had a stellar game, Danny Ayala could not prevent his team, the Lansing Lugnuts, from losing, 6-5, to the West Michigan Whitecaps. Ayala went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The winner in relief was Manny Villareal. He is now 1-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The 'W' lifts West Michigan's record to 74-59.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Alex McKinnon came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lansing pitcher Keith Raisor, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting West Michigan on top, 6-5.

"Just glad I could help us get a win," said McKinnon.
