Kernels Rally For Late Win Over LumberKings
|
The Clinton LumberKings got a sterling performance from pitcher J.J. Rasche, but the Cedar Rapids Kernels still prevailed, 8-4. Rasche threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run. The winner in relief was Jason Snyder. He is now 6-4. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The 6th-place Kernels have won 4 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Danny Aguilar came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Clinton pitcher Antonio Jimenez, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cedar Rapids on top, 5-4.
"I like the roll we're on," said Cedar Rapids manager Chris Glasspoole.
