Van den Bussche on Fire: 5-for-5 for Bowling Green
|
Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day, so it was a special occasion for Hot Rods's Dave Van den Bussche at Fifth Third Field. Van den Bussche put up a 5-for-5 line against the Dayton Dragons, swinging the bat with authority all day despite his club's eventual 9-4 loss.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Van den Bussche said after the game. "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but it's disappointing to lose."
Disappointed or not, he still gets his name in the record books. Dave Van den Bussche singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season in 65 games, Van den Bussche has hit at a .252 clip with 64 hits, 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
