The Lakewood BlueClaws put one in the win column with an opening day 11-0 triumph over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The crowd at First Energy Park watched Sean Kennerson put on a fine performance. Nate Hatch got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Grasshoppers to no runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2.

With Lakewood leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Kennerson hit a 2-run single off Greensboro hurler Gregg Porowski. It was the 3rd hit of the season for Kennerson and put his team ahead, 3-0.

Lakewood manager Steve Reinke commended his team for "putting the hammer down."
