GreenJackets Earn 3-2 Win Versus Intimidators
Crowds lined up early in front of CMC-NorthEast Stadium, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2099 South Atlantic League season. On the mound was Jamar Smith for the visiting Augusta GreenJackets and Robert Devlin for the hometown Kannapolis Intimidators. In a spirited contest, the GreenJackets pulled out the win, defeating the Intimidators by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Robert Devlin. Travis Slusser snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season.

Augusta used the timely hitting of Glenn Sherman to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the GreenJackets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sherman said.
