Shorebirds Turn Back Rome, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Rome Braves, pitcher Jonathan Duffy was the difference between victory and defeat. The Delmarva right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Shorebirds win. Noah Politano came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The loss puts Rome at 1-2.
The Shorebirds got a big at-bat from second baseman Ian Boyle. For the game, Boyle was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Delmarva a 2-1 lead.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Boyle said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
