The Hickory Crawdads scored a tight 4-3 win versus the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field. Hickory pitcher Walt Scott held his own in the contest. Simon McAfee, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The Crawdads, now 4-0, have hit the ground running this season.

Hickory used the timely hitting of Todd Peters to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crawdads on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Hickory manager Rafael Tercero.
