Both teams had their chances, but the Delmarva Shorebirds eventually prevailed.
Delmarva Shorebirds starter Chance McGinn found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Augusta GreenJackets. In 6.2 innings, McGinn surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Dave Escobar earned save number 1 this season.
The Shorebirds got a big at-bat from first baseman Amari Spencer. For the game, Spencer was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Delmarva a 3-0 lead.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said McGinn.
Augusta drops to 1-4.
