The Greensboro Grasshoppers and West Virginia Power were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
West Virginia Power starter Randy Larocque hurled his team past the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 5-0. Larocque, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs.
In the bottom of the fourth, West Virginia shortstop Ryan Fleming had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Fleming stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, West Virginia. For the game, he was 1 for 5.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Fleming told the West Virginia Daily.
