Columbia starter Nick Allen pitched well against the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. In 7 innings, Allen surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 3rd save for Columbia was Bobby Lopez.

Joe Dahl, the 24-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Dahl contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Columbia up, 2-1.
