Power Squash Shorebirds, 11-0
|
West Virginia starter Mike Gallegos throttled the Delmarva offense, as the Power won in a rout, 11-0. In 6.2 innings, Gallegos surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The win moves West Virginia to a record of 7-2.
Tied up with the Shorebirds in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Power got a boost from catcher Omar Tafolla. With the bases loaded, Tafolla saw a 1-1 fastball from Miguel Gonzalez and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put West Virginia on top, 1-0.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Delmarva manager Tom Phillips. "They smoked us."
