The Kannapolis Intimidators did just enough to sneak past the Lakewood BlueClaws, 4-3, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis pitcher Juan Galvan, in particular, had a standout performance. Kannapolis reliever Jorge Gomez snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mike Garcia shouldered the loss. It was the 9th win in 12 games this year for the defending champion Intimidators, who are picking up where they left off.

Tim Starks was the walk-off hero for Kannapolis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Intimidators second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I try to not think too much," said Starks.
