The Delmarva Shorebirds wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Matt Parks, falling, 1-0, to the Kannapolis Intimidators at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The win gives Kannapolis a record of 8-7.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Tyler Edwards? The 24-year old second baseman Edwards stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Kannapolis up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kannapolis manager Brian Turek.
