Shorebirds Edge West Virginia in Pitching Duel
|
The Delmarva Shorebirds topped the West Virginia Power, 1-0, in South Atlantic League action at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Delmarva pitcher and The Colony, Texas, native Petteri Kuoppala. Kuoppala picked up the win for Delmarva, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. The triumph makes Delmarva 11-9, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2108.
Delmarva took a 1-0 lead on Rocky Hall's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hall hit in the bottom of the seventh, left West Virginia pitcher Jose Gonzalez visibly frustrated.
"We did just enough to win," Hall said.
