Hickory Drops Another One, 6-1
|
The Hickory Crawdads got a superb performance from pitcher Jerry Gibson, but the Kannapolis Intimidators still won the game, 6-1. Gibson threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The winning pitcher was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Gabriel Tauke. He tossed 93 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. Tim Stephens closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Mike Sudduth drew 1 walk, while adding 2 RBI for Kannapolis. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jerry Gibson. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
Hickory manager Jordan Castro said: "Winning games at this level is tough. One thing here and one thing there will cause you to lose."
The Intimidators, now 16-5, have played well so far.
