Braves Score 3-0 Win Over Greensboro
|
Starting pitcher Ben Strickert did his part in helping the Rome Braves thwart the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 3-0. Strickert got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 1 hit and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. The win gives Rome a record of 12-10.
Tyler Greer had a big solo home run for the Braves in the top of the sixth inning. With Rome leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a splitter from Paul Gualtieri, who leads the SAL in complete games with 2, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Braves on top, 2-0.
"Ben was Ben," said Braves manager Tim Helfrich. "He gave it all he's got."
