Hagerstown had no answer for West Virginia Power starter Danny Forney, who flummoxed Suns hitters as the Power cruised to victory, 7-0. Forney got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Nate Gardner earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Justin Cantrell had a big 2-run home run for the Power in the bottom of the third inning. With West Virginia leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Muzquiz and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Power on top, 3-0.
Said Hagerstown manager Nick Richter: "When you don't score, it's never a good thing."
The Suns drop to 7-15, as their fitful start to the 2107 campaign continues.
