CMC-NorthEast Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Kannapolis Intimidators and West Virginia Power.
The West Virginia Power took Kannapolis pitcher Joe Drake's best shot and still were able to claim a win at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The final score had West Virginia getting past the Intimidators, 3-2. Drake went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. West Virginia reliever Nate Gardner picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tim Stephens absorbed the loss. Randy Owen collected his 9th save.
Danny Flores had a direct impact on the outcome. Flores contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put West Virginia up, 3-2.
"I was a little disappointed," said Kannapolis manager Brian Turek. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Losses have been rare for the Intimidators, who are now 16-7.
