RiverDogs Upend Braves, 5-3
|
Charleston right-hander David Sandoval pitched his team to victory over the Rome Braves at State Mutual Stadium. The final score was 5-3. The winning pitcher was Sandoval, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Phil Martel collected his 2nd save.
Charleston center fielder Tom Darden contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the RiverDogs ahead, 2-1.
"David is good at sticking to his strengths," said Charleston manager Brandon Lacey.
The RiverDogs, now 8-17, have not found much traction so far in 2110.
