Fireflies Squelch Power Offense in Shutout Win
|
Right-hander Mike Newman mesmerized the West Virginia Power while leading the Columbia Fireflies to a 4-0 victory. Losses have been few and far between for the Power, now 18-7.
Jesse Denger, who is tied for 7th in the SAL with a .333 batting average, helped out the Columbia cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the shortstop was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"Mike is a tough competitor," said Columbia manager Mike Keeney.
