Power Turn Back Tourists, 1-0
|
The rain did not keep West Virginia and Asheville from finishing their game.
The Asheville Tourists wasted an impressive 5-inning effort from starter Tom Valko, falling, 1-0, to the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park. The Tourists fall to 11-15 and continue their lackluster start to the 2109 season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Power had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Ryan Silva hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tom Valko and made the score 1-0, Power. Silva was 1-2.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Silva.
