Samples Slugs Tourists to 6-0 Win
|
The Asheville Tourists topped the West Virginia Power, 6-0, with youngster Jason Samples playing a key role. Samples went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Tourists in the win. Asheville pitcher Justin White got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Ricky Olague got the loss. Roberto Chavez finished the game for Asheville and earned his 2nd save.
Asheville took a 4-0 lead on Samples's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Dave Felshaw in the top of the sixth, propelled Asheville to the win.
"Winning never gets old," said Samples.
With the win, Asheville climbs to 9-17.
