RiverDogs Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
The Augusta GreenJackets faced a tough opponent in Charleston pitcher Archie Martin, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park by a final score of 3-2. Martin went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Augusta reliever Ricky Sanchez, now 5-1. The loser was Jesus Ferrer. The loss has the RiverDogs at 5-21.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Tom Myers's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Augusta third baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"Luck comes in waves -- good and bad," said Charleston manager Miguel Garcia. "So, we've got to keep pressing on."
