Slumping Shorebirds Lose 7th Straight
|
Lexington beat Delmarva in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Lexington pitcher Steve Barney did his part in helping his team defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Joel Wiegand was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Noah Politano.
Steve More was 1 for 4 with a walk for Lexington. With one out and the game tied in the top of the eighth inning, More, who is tied for 9th in the SAL with a .379 on-base percentage, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Delmarva hurler Noah Politano, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Legends a 2-1 lead.
Said Delmarva manager Tom Phillips: "They just got the better of us."
Delmarva is 10-18 after the loss.
