Hickory pitcher Andy Schurmann did his part in helping his team beat the Lakewood BlueClaws, 7-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Hickory is now 16-12.

Brian Edwards, the 26-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Edwards contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Hickory up, 2-0.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Schurmann told the Hickory News.
