RiverDogs Hang 6-3 Loss on Braves
|
Benefiting from Jim Duncan's productive game, the Charleston RiverDogs downed the Rome Braves, 6-3. Duncan was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the RiverDogs. Chris Blasioli, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Marcos Samaniego picked up the save for Charleston, his 4th of the year.
Chi-Cuong Phuc had a big 2-run double for the RiverDogs in the bottom of the third inning. With Charleston leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Bearden and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the RiverDogs ahead, 4-1.
Charleston manager Brandon Lacey called it "a darn good win."
The Braves fall to 9-19 and continue to sputter in the early going.
