Power Earn Late Win
|
Augusta wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Jeff Young, falling to the West Virginia Power, 1-0. Young threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. West Virginia reliever Ian Roth picked up the win. Phil Hill took the loss for Augusta. West Virginia is now 24-10, Augusta 18-16.
West Virginia got a knockout punch from Brian Tabak. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This joint was rocking," said Tabak.
