Fireflies Get Dramatic 6-5 Triumph
The Columbia Fireflies picked up a win at Spirit Communications Park, knocking off the Kannapolis Intimidators, 6-5. Starting pitcher Matt Burgos played a key role in the triumph. Reliever Bobby Lopez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-3. Bob Renny took the loss. With the win, Columbia upped its record to 22-12.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, pinch hitter Rafael Gil won it for Columbia. With the bases loaded, Gil hit a first pitch fastball from Bob Renny for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Gil.
