The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators, 12-10, at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory third baseman Sean Farnese had a superb performance. He went 2 for 2 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 times. The save went to Alex Villalobos, number 6 for him. The win makes Hickory 23-12.

The Intimidators had been locked in a 8-8 tie with the Crawdads going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Mike Wells came to the plate. Wells hit a grand slam home run on a 2-2 changeup from Kannapolis hurler Mike Muniz. It was Wells's 3rd home run of the year.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Wells told the Hickory News.
