Hickory got a terrific game from center fielder Shane Trahan. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Charleston, 4-3. Trahan was 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. The RiverDogs, at 14-24, sit in last place in the Southern Division.

Charleston used a clutch at-bat from Dan Leonard to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the RiverDogs ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Bottom line," said Hickory skipper Jordan Castro, "we didn't play well enough to win."
