Shorebirds Find a Way to Win
The Delmarva Shorebirds picked up a win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, dropping the Columbia Fireflies, 4-3, in 10 innings. David Diaz, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in strikeouts with 71, was the difference-maker. Jose Marques, 3-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. The Shorebirds improved their record to 25-15 with the win over Columbia.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 20-year old right fielder Andrew Lake had a chance to be the hero. Columbia pitcher Jediah Childers wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Lake hit a sacrifice fly. The Shorebirds had themselves a thrilling win.

"We were determined to pick up this win," said Diaz.
