Lakewood and Kannapolis duked it out and the BlueClaws came out victorious.

Lakewood used a superb performance from starting pitcher Jaime Edelmann to down the Kannapolis Intimidators, 4-1. Edelmann got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run.

In the bottom of the fourth, Michael Pippy delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Lakewood right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the BlueClaws in front, 4-1.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Edelmann.

The BlueClaws now have a record of 20-24 with the win over Kannapolis.
