Power Win Close Shave, 5-4
|
The Rome Braves got a superb performance from pitcher William Hatcher. Still, it wasn't enough to beat West Virginia. The Power won the game, 5-4. Hatcher threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Armando Morales collected his 2nd save. With the win, the Power improved to 20-24.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Robert Valeriano came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Rome pitcher Wibowo Kartodirdjo, he hit a first pitch splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting West Virginia on top, 5-4.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Valeriano told the West Virginia Daily.
