Braves Raise Rally Flag, Beat Greenville, 4-2
|
The Rome Braves dealt the Greenville Drive a 4-2 loss at Fluor Field at the West End. Rich Weston went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. Rome reliever Jon Engle got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Brandon Coombs was tagged with the loss. Rome is 5th in the Southern Division with a record of 21-25.
Joe Evans came through with a big-time hit for Rome. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Evans told the Rome Bulletin.
