5 Straight Wins for Power
The West Virginia Power withstood a fine game by Hickory left fielder Brent Jarzynka at Appalachian Power Park, to upend the Crawdads, 5-3. Jarzynka went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. West Virginia is 5th in the Northern Division with a record of 24-22.

Tim Schmahl was 1 for 3 for West Virginia. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Schmahl had a clutch at-bat. Facing Hickory hurler Alex Villalobos, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Power a 4-3 lead.

"We're rolling right now," said Schmahl. "We're playing good baseball."
