Power 3-2 Victors Over Greensboro
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Appalachian Power Park enjoyed a good ballgame.
Dave Ellis pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Greensboro Grasshoppers, despite Ellis's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park. J.R. Purcell snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-2 on the season. Dave Ellis suffered the loss.
Antonio Tinoco had a big solo home run for the Power in the bottom of the sixth inning. With West Virginia leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Dave Ellis, who is tied for 5th in the SAL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Power on top, 3-1.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Tinoco said.
The Power go to 31-15, putting them first in the Northern Division.
