BlueClaws Cut Down Crawdads, 6-4
|
The Lakewood BlueClaws handed the Hickory Crawdads a 6-4 defeat at L.P. Frans Stadium. Second Baseman Jim Loftin starred for Lakewood. He went 2-3 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Tim Jennett, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-4. Bill Klasing wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.
Loftin contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Lakewood in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Loftin took a fastball from Alex Duenas and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the BlueClaws to leap in front, 5-3.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Loftin said after the game.
Lakewood is 22-26 and Hickory, with the loss, 22-26.
