Tourists Handle Drive, Grab 7-4 Win
|
The Asheville Tourists picked up a win at McCormick Field, knocking off the Greenville Drive, 7-4. Starting pitcher T.J. Lawson was a big reason why. Asheville, now 22-29, holds down 5th place in the Southern Division.
Josh Talley had a big 2-run triple for the Tourists in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Asheville leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Dalton and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tourists ahead, 6-3.
"I can't say enough about T.J.," said Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman. "He stepped up when we needed him."
