Artie O'Brien, who is tied for 5th in the SAL in wins with 6, played a key role in a gritty 1-0 Charleston RiverDogs win against the Lexington Legends. O'Brien got the win, improving to 6-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Erik Graham earned the save for Charleston, his 12th of the year.
The RiverDogs got a big at-bat from center fielder Alex Curiel. For the game, Curiel went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave Charleston a 1-0 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said O'Brien, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The RiverDogs now have a mark of 22-30.
