With shortstop Rich Pero leading the charge, the Columbia Fireflies defeated the Hagerstown Suns, 4-2, at Spirit Communications Park. Pero went 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. Danny Gonzalez closed the door for Columbia, picking up his 1st save of the year. Columbia occupies last place in the Southern Division at 16-36.
With Columbia leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Pero hit a run-scoring single off Hagerstown hurler Josh Landry. It was the 19th hit of the season for Pero and put his team ahead, 4-2.
When asked about his performance after the game, Pero said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
