West Virginia had no answer for Lakewood BlueClaws starter Alberto Paredes, who flummoxed Power hitters as the BlueClaws cruised to victory, 6-1. Paredes yielded no runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. At 15-42, Lakewood is in 6th place in the Northern Division.

Andy Geary had a big 3-run home run for the BlueClaws in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Lakewood leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Chad McNulty and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the BlueClaws on top, 6-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Lakewood manager Steve Reinke.
